Palaniswami is part of AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala camp.

Earlier on Wednesday, AIADMK general secretary Sasikala, held guilty for corruption, returned to the Bengaluru jail.

A senior leader says the AIADMK camp led by Panneerselvam is hoping to receive a sizeable number of legislators today. Preferring anonymity, the leader tells news agency IANS that the Governor may not invite Public Works Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to form the government in the state till everything seems to be clear. "With Deepa Jayakumar joining hands with Panneerselvam, the strength of our camp has increased manifold and there is no patch up moves," he adds.

"The Governor has given appointment to Edappadi K Palaniswami at 11.30 am. Beyond this there is no information now as to the meeting agenda," an official in Raj Bhavan told IANS.

The Tamil Nadu Governor yesterday met Palaniswami, who claimed the support of 124 state legislators or MLAs, and acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who said he has the support of 11 MLAs. Both the leaders wanted to take a trust vote in the legislature and presented the Governor with a list of legislators supporting them.
