Tax officials raid educational institutions owned by Andhra Pradesh Minister

Hyderabad, Oct 05, 2018 : The schools and colleges owned by a minister in the Andhra Pradesh government were among the properties raided by income tax officials this morning, sources said. Ponguru Narayana, municipal administration and urban development minister in the Chandrababu Naidu government, runs the Narayana Group that claims to have a network of 200 schools, 400 junior colleges and 25 professional colleges.

 

The minister, who is in Nellore now, has denied the raids, though employees at some of his institutes in Vijayawada, 270 km from Hyderabad, are saying income tax officials have combed the premises.

Income Tax officials also conducted raids on the firms of former TDP legislator Beeda Mastan Rao in Nellore.

Real estate firms Southern Developers and Subhagruha in Vijayawada and Nellore were also searched in Vijayawada and Nellore.
