Kochi, Feb 07, 2023: Police officials resorted to using tear gas and water cannons to disperse Congress workers protesting against the Kerala Budget in Kochi on Tuesday afternoon.
A video shared by news agency ANI on Twitter showed visuals of a group of protesters grabbing onto the iron fence while police officials trained their water cannons onto them in an effort to make them disperse.
The ANI further tweeted images of tear gas shells being fired at the protesters to make them leave the area.

According to a report by The Hindustan Times, Congress workers protested in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday also. Even during the protest against the budget in the state capital, water cannons were deployed and used.
Congress workers gathered outside a guesthouse in Kochi where CM Vijayan was staying last week and waved black flags. A video by ANI had visuals of policemen taking the protesters into custody for raising anti-government slogans.
