Telangana: Seemandhra MPs send no-confidence notice against UPA

New Delhi, Dec 9: The Congress, which is yet to recover from a near total decimation in the assembly polls, has suffered another setback on Monday. In a shocking development, 6 Congress MPs from Seemandhra region have issued a no-confidence motion against their own party led UPA government at the Centre.

These 6 Lok Sabha members are opposing the creation of the Telangana state. In their no-confidence motion, they have mentioned that the UPA government has lost the faith of Seemandhra MPs. L Rajagopal, SPY Reddy, Sabbam Hari, R Sambasivarao, Harshakumar and V Arunkumar have signed the no-confidence motion.

Most of the MPs from Seemandhra region are likely to quit once the Telangana Bill is tabled in Parliament. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is also seriously planning to quit once the Telangana Bill is tabled in the Parliament. According to his close aides, he is even planning to float his own political party.

Union Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi has already sent his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

The Centre has already cleared the Telangana Bill. It will be sent to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly seeking its views. The views of the state assembly are not binding on the Centre. It can go ahead with the formation irrespective of what AP assembly says.

Some Telangana leaders are expressing apprehension that the Centre may not even push for the new state after it lost the assembly polls.
