Bengaluru, Jul 26, 2018 : Continuing its flurry of arrests the special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh picked up 50-year-old Rajesh Bangera from Madikeri in Kodagu district.
Bangera was produced before a magistrate on Tuesday and has been remanded in police custody till August 6.
This is the fourth arrest the SIT has made in a little under two weeks, and the tenth overall. Last week, Amit Baddi and Ganesh Miskin, two youths aged 27, were picked up from Hubballi city in northern Karnataka. Mohan Nayak, a 50-year-old Ayurveda practitioner was picked up the week before last.
SIT officials did not divulge details about the role Bangera played in the conspiracy, but a senior official confirmed that he was in touch with Amol Kale and Amit Degwekar, believed to be the masterminds.
Apart from the recent arrests, the SIT had earlier arrested KT Naveen Kumar, Sujith Kumar alias Praveen, Kale, Degwekar, Manohar Yedave, and Parashuram Waghmare.
