Budgam, Aug 10, 2022: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, including Lateef Rather, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.
"All the three hiding LeT terrorists neutralised. Bodies are being retrieved from the site, identification is yet to be ascertained. Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition were recovered. A big success for us," Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.
According to Kashmir Zone Police, Lateef was involved in several civilian killings including Rahul Bhat & Amreen Bhat.

In May, terrorists fired at and killed Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat, an employee of the revenue department, in Budgam. After the incident, members of the Kashmiri Pandit community took to the streets in protest. Two terrorists involved in the attack on Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat were killed in the encounter later.
Kashmiri TV actor Amreen Bhat was killed by unidentified terrorists in Budgam’s Chadoora area on May 26.
On Sunday, a ‘hybrid’ terrorist of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was arrested by the Indian Army’s 34 RR unit in the Budgam area. The officials also seized incriminating materials which include 5 pistols, 5 magazines, 50 rounds and two hand grenades from him, ANI said in a report.
On August 5, a soldier was injured after an encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam area. Two terrorists escaped from the scene while one person was trapped after he was injured.
