Srinagar, Nov 17, 2021: Five militants, including the commander of terror outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), were killed during an encounter with security forces in Pombay and Gopalpora villages of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
While three militants were killed in Pombay, two were killed in Gopalpora.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Gopalpora area, following inputs about the presence of militants, PTI reported. After the militants fired upon a party of security forces, they retaliated. In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed.
Afaq Sikander, the militant commander of proscribed terror outfit The Resistance Front, was killed by the security forces in Kulgam.
"Terrorist Commander of proscribed terror outfit TRF Afaq Sikander killed in encounter," Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar said in a tweet.
On Monday, two terrorists were killed in a brief encounter with security forces in Hyderpora area of Srinagar.
