Two ATM robbers shot at in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi, April 29, 2025: The Suburban station police officials here on Saturday arrested two persons after shooting them in their legs in connection with robbing an ATM on the Ring Road.

They had broken an SBI ATM by using a gas cutter in Ramanagar on the Ring Road and decamped with Rs 18 lakh cash April 9.

The arrested persons, Taslim (28) and Sharif (22), who hail from Haryana, are undergoing treatment at the trauma center of the GIMS premises after receiving injury.

The police officials had gone to arrest the accused in the Belur Cross Industrial area here on Saturday morning. At this juncture, the accused tried to escape after attacking the police despite being asked to surrender.

CPI Santosh Thattepalli and PSI Basavaraja of Suburban police station shot Taslim and Sharif in the legs and arrested them.

The constables Manju, Firoz, and Rajkumar, who are injured in the attack, are getting treatment in the hospital, Kalaburagi City Police Commissioner Sharanappa S D.

He said that a total of 8 cases are registered against Taslim and 3 cases against Sharif in connection with ATM robbery in Karnataka and other states.
