Two detained, FIRs against 87 people in UP violence over alleged cow slaughter

Uttar Pradesh, Dec 04, 2018 : The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested two men and detained four in connection with mob violence following alleged cow slaughter in Bulandshahr district that led to two deaths, including that of an inspector, police said.

According to the two First Information Reports (FIR) filed, 28 persons have been named while 60 persons have been listed as unidentified in the Monday’s incident. The FIR names Yogesh Raj, reportedly a senior Bajrang Dal leader who had earlier lodged an FIR alleging cow slaughter, reports PTI.

Prostestors clashed with police and st their vehiclesand a police post on fire in the three-hour rampage on Monday after reports of the recovery of carcasses of cows at Mahaw village on Sunday night, said Prashant Kumar, the additional director general of police.
