Bareilley, May 26, 2021: The police in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly allegedly nailed hands and feet of a man who was not wearing a facemask. His mother has alleged that three cops mistreated her son and took him away.
She said when she reached the local police post, she was told that her son has been taken elsewhere. After hours of search, the man was reportedly found grievously injured and his hands and feet were nailed.
The incident took place in Baradari area of Bareilly.
"My son was sitting outside on the road around 10 pm on May 24. All of a sudden, some cops came there and started asking everyone about masks. They caught hold of my son and this led to a scuffle," the woman said in a letter to the police superintendent.
The woman has also alleged that when she went to the police post and complained about this mistreatment, the cops threatened to arrest her son.
On Wednesday, she urged senior police officials to look into the matter and appealed for justice.
Speaking about the case, SSP Rohit Sajwan said, "The man is an old accused who has been booked in several cases in different police stations. He is leveling these allegations against the police to escape charges. His allegations have found to be incorrect."
