Bengaluru, June 28, 2023: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said his government will probe all the alleged scams and irregularities during the previous BJP regime before the 2024 general elections. According to sources, the government is planning to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the allegations.
Noting that the government will fulfill all its pre-poll promises, Siddaramaiah said, implementation of Congress’s five guarantees will cost the exchequer Rs 59,000 a year, and there is a slightly higher burden on the administration this year.
"We will get scams probed. Four medical colleges were constructed and there are allegations of irregularities. We will get it probed. Also, we will get allegations of the 40 per cent commission probed. There were irregularities in health-related procurements during the Covid period, irrigation projects-related irregularities, and the bitcoin scam. All of them will be probed," Siddaramaiah said.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the investigation is on into the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam by the CID; it will be further intensified, and those guilty will be punished.
Deaths in the Chamarajanagara hospital allegedly due to a shortage of oxygen supply during the pandemic will also be investigated, he said, adding, "The then Health Minister K Sudhakar had said only two had died. But the casualties were more due to a shortage of oxygen. He had lied. We will get it inquired."
According to sources, three ministers, during a cabinet meeting, suggested the formation of an SIT would benefit in exposing the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
