Bengaluru, April 28, 2025: Reaffirming his party’s support to the Centre in its fight against terrorism, All India Congress Committee president M Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday, however, asked the BJP-led Union government to take everyone along for the sake of the country.

Pointing out that a country took precedence over religion and language, Kharge added, “The country is important. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and myself – we may not be here. But the country will remain, and must stay united. That is what we are striving for.”

Kharge opined that Modi ought not to have missed the all-party meeting convened to deliberate on India’s response to the Pahalgam attack.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said that said protection of the country was paramount for the Congress.

“All lives are important. Saving the country is our stand. The Congress Working Committee has already made it clear that the party will accept the stance that the Union government adopts towards Pakistan,” he added.

Shivakumar felt that queries about the PM’s truancy at the all-party meeting could only be answered by Modi.

“I request the media to do co-operate with everyone in establishing peace in the country,” said the Deputy CM.
