Bengaluru, Jan 09, 2023: Karnataka Congress leader Siddaramaiah has accused the BJP of trying to defame him through a new book on his tenure as the chief minister of the state.
The book titled "Siddu Nijakanasugalu" purportedly contains writings on the alleged misrule of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government and the Congress leader’s "appeasement politics".
"Ahead of the election, they are releasing such books. It is totally defamatory. Let’s see what action is to be taken as per law," Siddaramaiah said on Monday.
The book also reportedly contains certain controversial and communally-sensitive issues and incidents linked to Siddaramaiah’s tenure.
A local court has stayed the release of the book. Two platoons of reserve police were stationed at Town Hall venue in Bengaluru, where the book release was planned.
The posters for the book launch event showed copies of books with images of Siddaramaiah dressed like Tipu Sultan and holding a sword on their covers, PTI reported.
The Congress, in its response to the book, stated that the picture of Siddaramaiah was distorted by a conspiracy to disrupt harmony, law, and order.
