The Times of India reported on Tuesday that Sitalakshmi has been seeking alms at the entrance of the Prasanna Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Vontikoppal for nearly a decade.

She started begging about a decade back when she became weak and could no longer work as a domestic help.

The report said Sitalakshmi has donated a total of Rs 2.5 lakh to the temple to improve amenities there and also for distributing prasadam to devotees every year during Hanuman Jayanti.

She first gave Rs 30,000 to the temple during the Ganesha festival and recently, handed over another Rs 2 lakh. In total, Sitalakshmi has contributed over Rs 2.5 lakh to the temple.

Sitalakshmi, who lives with her brother and sister-in-law in Yadavagri, told the newspaper that god is everything to her and that is why she has donated money to the temple “which takes care of me so well”.

Speaking about her wish, she said the temple authorities should provide prasadam to devotees during every Hanuman Jayanthi.

Talking about Sitalakshmi, M Basavaraj, temple trust chairman, said that she has been unlike any other beggar and never demands money from devotees. She just accepts what they give, Basavaraj said further, adding the temple authorities will take good care of her as well as the money she has donated.
