New Delhi, Mar 07, 2024: Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday asserted the Enforcement Directorate would stop sending him summons if he joins the BJP. In an X post, the Delhi Chief Minister, who has so far skipped eight summons, hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that Opposition leaders were being "forced" to join the BJP.
Kejriwal’s reaction came after the probe agency filed a fresh complaint before a Delhi court seeking his prosecution for skipping its summons in a money laundering investigation related to the alleged liquor policy scam.
"Enforcement Directorate raids are conducted asking where will you go -- BJP or jail? Those who refuse to join the BJP are sent to jail," a rough translation from Kejriwal’s post in Hindi suggested.
"Satyendar Jain, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh will get bail tomorrow if they join the BJP today... Even I will stop getting Enforcement Directorate summons if I join the BJP now," he added.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener also said that time is very powerful and keeps changing.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate had moved a local court seeking Kejriwal’s prosecution as the Chief Minister did not show up after the initial summons were issued to him in the money laundering case.
The latest complaint also pertains to Kejriwal not honouring the summons.
Kejriwal had called all the Enforcement Directorate summonses "illegal" and informed the agency last time that he could be questioned via a videoconferencing link after March 12.
