Mumbai, June 28, 2022: One person died while several are still trapped under the debris after a four-storeyed building collapsed at Naik Nagar Society of Mumbai’s Kurla area late on Monday night.
Rescue operations have been underway since Monday night, with 11 people pulled out alive so far and one fatality reported.
While the deceased is a 30-year old man, the 11 rescued have sustained injuries and have been shifted to shifted to civic hospitals in Ghatkopar and Sion for treatment.
The man, among those brought to Rajawadi hospital at Ghatkopar, was declared dead on arrival. Fire brigade personnel are searching for survivors, the official said.
Locals informed the fire brigade personnel that around 20-22 people were trapped under the debris, when they reached the spot after receiving a call about the incident, the official said. Around a dozen fire engines were deployed at the spot besides two rescue vans and other fire brigade equipment, the official said.

Local corporator Pravina Morajkar said that the colony where the incident took place comprises four dilapidated buildings, adding that the residents were given notices to vacate five to six years back, Indian Express reported.
Yet, the residents continued to stay, she said.
Morajkar said that the tenants of the remaining three buildings will be shifted by BMC on Tuesday morning.
