New Delhi, Oct 22, 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said 100 crore Covid-19 vaccinations was not just a number but a testament that India could achieve a tough aim successfully.
Addressing the nation on Friday, PM Modi said, "100 crore vaccinations is not just a number but the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the country. It shows that the country works hard for the fulfilment of its goals."
PM Modi noted that the feat was achieved in nine months despite many doubting the country’s capability. "There were apprehensions over our Covid-19 vaccination program. It was also being said about how discipline will work here," PM Modi said in his 20-minute speech.

PM Modi also said his government ensured that there was no "VIP culture" in the vaccination drive and Covid-19 does not discriminate between rich and poor.
"We ensured that the VIP culture does not overshadow our vaccination program and everyone is treated equally," PM Modi said while outlining the enormity of the challenge.
India took 279 days to administer 100 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses, according to Union Health Ministry data. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16, with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase.
Highlighting that India’s vaccine campaign was a living example of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas", PM Modi said the vaccination programme has been "science-born, science-driven and science-based". "It’s based on scientific methods, entirely," PM Modi said.
Before signing off, PM Modi cautioned citizens against negligence in the fight against Covid-19, saying "however strong the shield is, arms are not laid as long as war is on".
"I request all to celebrate the upcoming festivals with utmost caution. I appeal to all those who have not taken the first dose of COVID19 vaccine yet should be given utmost priority to getting vaccinated," the Prime Minister said.
