New Delhi, Sep 13, 2023: At least 11 people were killed after a truck rammed a stationary bus on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district on Wednesday. The accident happened at nearly 4.30 am today.
According to the details, the passenger bus, travelling from Gujarat to Mathura was standing by the highway after it had broken down.
It was hit by a speeding truck from behind, which resulted in casualties.
According to news agency PTI, the deceased included five men and six women.
Visuals of the accident showed locals standing at the site of the collision.
PM MODI ANNOUNCES EX-GRATIA
Expressing grief at the loss of lives and offering condolences to the victims’ families, Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
"The Prime Minister has approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the mishap in Bharatpur. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each," the Prime Minister’s Office wrote on X.
On Tuesday, four people were killed after their jeep collided with a bus in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district.
The accident occurred near Lakhowali under the Hanumangarh town police station area.
The deceased were identified as Nandram Jat (70), Neetu Jat (60), Deepu Jat (13) and Arjun Jat (40), police said.
