12 Doctors Withdraw From Eman’s Daily Treatment

Apr 26, 2017: Twelve out of thirteen doctors who have treating Eman Ahmed from Egypt who is considered to be the world’s heaviest woman have withdrawn from her daily treatment as a symbolic resignation, after her sister Saimma alleged that her sibling has not recovered at all.

Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, who has been treating Ahmed since February said that Saimma is making these claims as she does not want to take her sister back to Egypt, owing to financial conditions.

The Hindu quoted bariatric surgeon Dr Aparna Govil Bhaskar as saying:
We will not see her on a daily basis and only go when the patient needs us. Whatever has happened is extremely disappointing. The allegations have stemmed out of the fact that Ms. Selim doesn’t want to take her sister home. It is very hurtful when she claims that the doctors have not been seeing her.

Earlier, doctors had said that Ahmed will be moved to the CT scan room from her ward soon, where people can see the difference between Saimma’s claims and Ahmed’s real condition.

Ahmed, who was the heaviest woman in the world, weighing over 500 kg, has reportedly lost 250 kg in a span of two months since her surgery.
