New Delhi, Nov 5: Justice RV Raveendran and Justice Markanadey Katju, both judges of the Supreme Court Bench hearing into the high profile Ambani brothers’ case have opted out from the hearing. Both have cited a likely clash of interest as the reason for their latest move. The dispute between the two Ambani brothers is over supply and pricing of natural gas.
While Justice Markanadey withdrew from hearing on the grounds that his wife owned shares in Reliance Industries,
Justice Raveendran quit, saying his daughter was working for a Bangalore based firm which provided consultancy services to Reliance Industries Ltd on matters pertaining to global acquisition.
The other judges of the SC bench hearing the case are Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan and Justice P Sathasivam.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice has appointed Justice B Sudarshan Reddy in place of Raveendran.
The court decided to hear the matter afresh beginning from Thursday with the hope that RIL would complete its arguments by November 12.
