2 injured after passenger train coach derails in Maharashtra’s Gondia

Gondia, Aug 17, 2022: Two people were injured after a coach of a train derailed in Maharashtra’s Gondia city early Wednesday after a passenger train named Bhagat ki Kothi collided with a goods train due to non-receipt of a signal.

The S3 coach of the train got derailed after the accident that happened around 2.30 am on Wednesday. The passenger train was on its way from Raipur to Nagpur.

The injured passengers were treated and they left in the same train. The incident happened because both the trains were going in the same direction i.e. towards Nagpur.

No deaths were reported.

The Indian Railways said that the re-railment procedure was completed at 4.30 am and that the affected train left the site at 5.24 am. It reached Gondia at 5.44 am.

The route has been cleared and the traffic around the area resumed around 5.45am.

News agency ANI had earlier reported over 50 injuries.
