3 cops injured in stone throwing in Belagavi

Belagavi, Dec 19, 2017 : Three policemen sustained injuries in the sporadic stone-throwing incidents in communally sensitive Khadak Galli, Khanjar Galli, Khade Bazaar and nearby areas late on Monday night.

According to sources, around 10.45 pm, mobs from Khade Bazaar and Khanjar Galli threw stones on shops and houses, raising slogans. Some cars and two-wheelers were also set on fire. The reason for the sudden provocation is was not yet known.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Shankar Marihal and Police Inspector Prashant were injured in the incident. Additional police forces were deployed in the area to quell violence.
