New Delhi, Feb 05, 2022: BJP leader and former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife, Amruta Fadnavis, on Saturday said that three per cent of the divorces in Mumbai take place due to traffic jams.
“....I am saying this as a common citizen because I see potholes and traffic jams daily. Do you know how many divorces are taking place because of it in Mumbai? Three per cent," she said.

"People can not find time for their families because of traffic issues,” Fadnavis, a banker by profession, added.
Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar said Amruta Fadnavis’ claim is "astonishing" and that "people associated with BJP are making comments like this."
"People are fed up with such comments," she said.
Without naming Amruta Fadnavis, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said in a tweet, "Best [il]logic of the day award goes to the lady who claims 3% Mumbaikars are divorcing due to traffic on roads. Please take a holiday break rather than having a mind on brake... Bengaluru families please avoid reading this, can prove fatal for your marriages."
Addressing Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who laughed off Amruta’s divorce-traffic connection, Amruta took to Twitter, citing a survey conducted by a firm, and said that a survey found that Mumbaikars suffer from psychological and physiological illness as a result of heavy traffic jams and delays in traffic movement.
"There is also a decline in employee productivity and an increase in divorce rates," Amruta said.
