3 militants killed in encounter with security forces in Kashmir’s Anantnag

Anantnag, Jul 10, 2021: Three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday afternoon. The encounter took place in the Kawarigam area of Anantnag.

 

The militants were killed in a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army, the J&K Police and the Central Reserve Police Force.

Sources said the encounter broke out in a village while the security forces were acting on a tip-off about presence of militants there. As the area where they were suspected to be hiding was being cordoned off, the militants started firing at the security forces.

The trio was killed following a brief gunfight.

Sources say the area is being searched and identities of the killed militants are being ascertained.

This encounter comes two days after five militants were killed in three separate encounters in Kulgam and Pulwama districts of J&K within 24 hours.
