Pune, November 30, 2024: In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old cricketer died of cardiac arrest while playing a match in Pune.
As per a report by Times of India, Imran Patel, a professional cricketer, was playing a league match at Garware Stadium on Wednesday when he suddenly experienced pain in his left arm and chest after a few overs.
Patel, who was the opening batsman of his team complained about the pain to the umpire.
After a brief discussion, Patel started walking back to the pavilion and collapsed before he could leave the ground. Patel was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
The entire episode was caught on camera as the match was being live streamed.
According to Patel’s teammates, he did not have history of any medical condition.

“He was in good physical condition. In fact, he was an allrounder who loved the game. We’re all still in shock," Naseer Khan, another cricketer told TOI.
Patel is survived by his wife and three daughters, the youngest one being four months old. Patel also owned a cricket team, had a real-estate business, and ran a juice shop.
A huge crowd turned up at the cricketer’s funeral near Maulana Azad College on Wednesday night.
In a similar incident, a man in Andhra Pradesh died while presenting a wedding gift to the newly married couple. He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.
In a video circulating on social media, the man can be seen losing his balance as he stood on the stage with others, waiting for the couple to open the gift. Soon after, he gestures to his friends to give him a hand to prevent him from falling.
The deceased was identified as Vamsi. He was working with Amazon in Bengaluru.
