Bengaluru, Jan 02, 2023: A 47-year-old man died by suicide after he shot himself in Bengaluru on Sunday. In the note that he left behind, the man mentioned that harassment by six people, including a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, was the reason for him taking the extreme step.
The man, identified as S Pradeep, had invested Rs 1.2 crore in a club in Bengaluru in 2018 after being persuaded by two of the men he named in the note. They had promised to pay him back a sum of Rs 3 lakh every month, including a salary for working for the club.
However, after taking the money, the two men, Gopi and Somiaha, refused to pay back Pradeep for several months, said the suicide note. The note also states that Pradeep had to take multiple loans to repay the interest and even had to sell his house and agricultural land to make payments.
MENTAL HARASSMENT
Despite multiple pleas, the men did not return the money to Pradeep. So, Pradeep took the issue to BJP MLA Aravind Limbavali, stated the note. It further states that the MLA spoke to the two men to return Pradeep’s money, but they said they would return only Rs 90 lakhs.
The letter also accuses a doctor, Jayaram Reddy, of filing a civil case against Pradeep’s brother’s property and mentally torturing and harassing Pradeep.
The letter concludes by naming the six people responsible for him taking the extreme step. It also named BJP MLA Aravind Limbavali and accused him of supporting the men who did not return Pradeep’s money.
Pradeep was found dead with a bullet injury to his head on Sunday at Nettigere village in Bengaluru. According to the police, the suicide note was found in his car and it named six people, including the BJP MLA.
Police officials have registered a case and further investigations are underway.
