6 Dead after drinking contaminated water in Karnataka village, CM Bommai orders inquiry

Vijayanagara, Oct 05, 2021: Six people have died and several have fallen ill after consuming contaminated water at Makarabbi village in Karnataka’s Vijayanagar district.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has taken cognizance of the issue, and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Munish Moudgil has been appointed as the officer to investigate the matter.

The chief minister has also announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each for the family of the deceased.

He said, "It’s saddening that people died after consuming contaminated water. This is a serious issue. The government is taking it seriously and I’ve appointed Munish Moudgil as the lead officer to investigate this case. An inquiry has been ordered and within a week a report has to be filed."
