7 dead, 40 feared trapped in residential building collapse in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar

MUMBAI, Jul 25 2017 DH News: Seven people died and 40 people are feared be trapped when a four-storeyed building caves in at Ghatkopar in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai.

The teams of Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation and Mumbai Fire Brigade have rushed to the spot.

Prabhat Rahangdale, Chief Fire Officer, said: "Seven people have died and about 40 people are suspected to be trapped inside after a four storeyed building collapsed in Ghatkopar and we received a distress call at around 10:43 AM. Fire officials have managed to rescue 9 people so far and they have beens sent to hospital."

"Rescue operations are on and various fire department and police personnel teams have been deployed to aid victims," he added.
