Telangana Rashtra Samithi J Santosh Kumar and Sircilla MLA KTR supported the environmentalists in their effort, following which nature lover Debbala Prakash gave life to a 70-year-old tree which had collapsed due to heavy rains.

The giant tree was transported from Suddala village in Konaraupeta Mandal of Rajanna Sirisilla district on Sunday and was replanted near the Sirisilla district collectorate office.

Heavy cranes from the state capital Hyderabad were pressed into service for transportation.

Four months ago, due to unprecedented heavy rains, on the outskirts of Suddala village in Konaraopet Mandal in Rajanna Sircilla district, in the agricultural land of Burra Bhumaiah Goud and Burra Ramesh Goud, a 70-year-old Banyan tree fell down and was uprooted. Due to lack of water, it started drying up and appeared as though it was dead.

Dr Dobbala Prakash, from the same village who believed in the dictum Vriksha Rakshitah Raksha was upset at the fall of the Banyan tree, which gave shelter to humans and birds alike. He thought that a sufficient amount of water could bring the tree back to life.

He immediately spoke to farmers Bhumaiah and Ramesh and said that he would transplant the tree to a different place, following which he took permission from Dobbala Das, who is the owner of a neighbouring field, to draw water from his well.

Ramesh, who works as Telangana Sanskriti Sarathi in Rajanna Sircilla PRO office, supplied water to the tree for two months while discharging his official duties. Prakash’s efforts yielded good results and the tree started sprouting new leaves. In no time, the tree responded well with green leaves and new roots.

A special road was laid for the easy transportation of the tree from Suddhala Village in Konaraopet Mandal to the new Collectorate office, 6 km away from where it fell.

Meanwhile, two large branches from the tree were planted in the Zillella forest area in Tangannapalli mandal.

TRS MP J Santosh Kumar took very special care about the programme and he was constantly in touch with Prakash. Green India Challenge Co-founder Raghava was also in touch with Prakash and conveyed communication to the MP on a regular basis.
