Betul, Dec 10, 2022: Tanmay Sahu, an eight-year-old boy who fell into a 400-feet deep borewell on December 6 has died though he was taken out of it after over 65 hours of rescue operation in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul. His body is being taken to Betul District Hospital.
The presence of stones across the area had delayed the operation that lasted for more than four days.
The boy was playing in a farm when he went to another field and fell into the open borewell. Earthmoving machines were brought in to dig a parallel tunnel to get the boy out.

Tanmay Sahu remained stuck at 55-feet of the 400-feet deep borewell until he was taken out late Friday night. The child had died when the body was taken out, according to district administration.
The boy fell into the borewell on December 6.
"We immediately rushed to the spot. He was breathing, and we listened to his voice as we inquired. The rescue operation started from 6 pm onwards on December 6," the boy’s father had said.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Home Guard, and local police personnel were deployed to rescue the boy over the past four days.
