9,887 cases, 294 deaths in 24hrs as India overtakes Italy, becomes 6th worst-hit country

Delhi, Jun 006, 2020: The number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 2,36,657 on Friday, taking the country to the sixth spot worldwide above Italy, while the number of deaths crossed 6,600, according to data provided by the union health ministry, News18 reported.

 

In the last 24 hours, India saw yet another record high in terms of daily infections as well as patient deaths at 9,887 and 294 respectively. India now has over 1.15 lakh active cases, with a sharp spike in infections in the last few days.

Hydroxychloroquine, decades-old malaria and rheumatoid arthritis drug, has been touted as a possible treatment for the new coronavirus by high profile figures.

India Coronavirus Cases | The total cases of Covid-19 have risen to 2,36,657. Active cases are now at 1,15,942 while 1,14,072 people have recovered. A total of 6,642 people have died due to the disease. A spike of 9887 new cases and 294 deaths has been seen since 24 hours.
