Dhanbad, Nov 25: A group of 93 school girls who were returning from Patna to Dhanbad in a train were sexually harassed by a group of men who had come to appear in Group D railway recruitment test on Sunday. The teachers accompanying the girls were also assaulted by the hooligans. .
What added to the miseries of the harassed girls was that the railway police turned their backs on their complaint. The victims asked for help from railway police but no assistance was provided.
The girl students accompanied by three teachers from Carmel School in Dhanbad and Digwadih were on a trip to Patna to attend an environmental camp.
When the group boarded Ganga Damodar Express at Patna railway station at 10pm, they saw a group of men sitting on their berths. The girls sought for help from police but no help was provided.
"You just enter the compartment and these men will vacate the seats on their own’’, the railway officer told the girls. .At around 11:40pm, the group of men began harassing the girls. The teachers showed resentment towards their action and in return they were assaulted.
After harassing the girls for more than 4 hours, the group of men got off at Koderma station.
