Bengaluru, Oct 13, 2021: The Karnataka Congress has found itself in an embarrassing position after a video emerged of a former member of Parliament and a media coordinator badmouthing state unit president DK Shivakumar.
In the video, former Lok Sabha MP VS Ugrappa and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee media coordinator Saleem Ahmed can be heard talking about a “scandal” involving DK Shivakumar, that allegedly has to do with him and his aides accepting bribes.
"It was six to eight per cent before then it became 10 to 12 per cent. It is all DK adjustment. Mulgund (aide of DK) has made Rs 50-100 crore. Imagine if Mulgund has this, then how much DK has," says Saleem Ahmed in the clip.
VS Ugrappa and Saleem Ahmed also discuss how the Karnataka Congress president is of no use to the party.
“We all fought hard to make DK the president. But he hurt us and the party,” says Ugrappa.
They wonder if Shivakumar gets drunk because of his so-called stutter and compare him to senior leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah.
“He stutters while talking. I don’t know if it’s low BP or if he’s a drunkard. That’s what we discussed, media also asked if he was drinking then but he wasn’t. Siddaramaiah’s body language is kadak (smart),” says Saleem Ahmed.
“We all fought hard to make DK the president. But he hurt us and the party,” says Ugrappa.
This isn’t the first time that DK Shivakumar has found himself embroiled in controversy because of the actions of a party functionary. In July this year, the Karnataka Congress chief was caught on camera slapping a party worker who tried to put his hand on his shoulder. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
Former Congress MP V S Ugrappa and KPCC media coordinator Salim discuss how Party president DK Shivakumar takes bribes and a close aid of his has made between 50-100 crores in collection. They are also discussing how he stutters while talking and as if he his drunk.
