Actress Radikaa Sarathkumar makes massive claim: Cameras in vanity vans record women dressing

Mangalore Today News Network

Chennai, August 31, 2024: Ever since the findings of the Justice Hema Committee report have been made public, several actresses have opened up about facing sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry. Now, Tamil actress Radikaa Sarathkumar has also alleged that she was once working on a project in Kerala when she learnt that there were hidden cameras in vanity vans. Sarathkumar claimed that crew members secretly record women changing clothes in their vanity vans and have a database for the same.

“While I was on a set in Kerala, I saw people gathered together and laughing at something. As I passed by, I noticed they were watching a video. I called a crew member and asked him what they were watching. I was told there were cameras in the vanity vans and footage of women changing clothes was captured using the same. I was told you just type the name of the artiste, and you will find a video of them changing dress. I saw the video,” Radhikaa told Asianet News’ Namaste Kerala.

However, the actress refused to reveal where the incident took place. “If we spit looking upwards, it will fall on our face only. So I don’t want to take names,” she added.

Radhikaa recalled that she was ‘very angry’ with the incident and was afraid to go to her vanity room. “This system is wrong. After the incident, I told other female artists about the hidden cameras. I was afraid to go into my vanity van after the incident. It is a private space for us to change, to take rest, or to have food,” she continued.

She then confronted the crew about hidden cameras and threatened them following which she was told that “they will look into it”.

For the unversed, in the last few days, several actresses from the Malayalam film industry have come out to share their horrific cases of sexual harassment. Among others, a complaint has also been filed against CPI(M) MLA and actor Mukesh, actor Jayasurya, and Edavela Babu for sexual and verbal assault.

It all started after the findings of the Justice Hema Committee Report were made public earlier this month. In the wake of the same, Mohanlal also recently resigned as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists. The actor announced his decision and left everyone shocked. He was the president of the association and had a 17-member executive committee. However, all the members of the committee submitted their joint resignation.
