After porn scandal, crackdown on cameras in Karnataka Assembly

Mangalore Today / NDTV

Bangalore, Feb 15:  It was a particularly candid camera. A private TV channel in Bangalore caught three ministers watching porn on a cellphone in the Karnataka Assembly. The trip was forced to resign last week. They cannot enter the Assembly till a committee completes its investigation against them. The Assembly will also be off-limits soon for TV cameras - an odd way of shooting the messenger.

Like several other states and parliament, what happens in the Karnataka Assembly will be soon covered only by state-run Doordarshan. "We had set up a committee which has suggested that cameras be installed inside the assembly just like it is in Loksabha. It will cost us 25 crore rupees, till then the same system will continue," said the Speaker, KG Bopaiah.

The triple ex ministers as they are now referred to in the media and an Amul ad will submit their version of what happened to the Speaker tomorrow.  But just in case others in the BJP haven’t watched and learned, the party will explain basic dos and don’ts to its members next week.  The two-day session is being described by some BJP members as an extensive moral science lesson.
