Ahmedabad airport shut, plane stranded on runway

Ahmedabad, July 22:  Ahmedabad airport has been shut for over two hours now. A Jet Airways flight 9W 2510 from Indore to Ahmedabad, which was scheduled to take off at 8.55 pm, is stuck on the runway, bringing flight operations to a grinding halt.


According to a press release by the airline, the nose wheel of the plane came out following which the pilots had to abort the take off. All passengers and crew are safe. They have been deplaned and taken to the terminal building where they are being looked after by the Jet Airways staff, the release said.

There were 57 passengers and 4 crewmembers on board the flight.

A Notice to Air Men (NOTAM) has been issued, which means the runway has been closed.A crane is now being called in to tow away the aircraft so that flights can resume.


Sourabh Kakkar, a passenger stranded at Ahmedabad told NDTV that the airlines have told them it may take another 3-4 hours. Kakkar was on the Air India flight that was stranded on the runway. He  said they too, have now been asked to deplane but complained,  that  there were no arrangements at the airport for them.
