New Delhi, April 21, 2023: Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) has threatened attacks on India over the murder of gangster Atiq Ahmed while in custody. In its Eid message, the terror group threatened revenge and called Atiq and his brother Ashraf "martyrs".
In its 7-page magazine released by As-Sahab, the propaganda media wing of Al-Qaeda, the terror group also promised to "liberate Muslims".
The AQIS fumed over the killing of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf and praised them as "martyrs".
Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists in the middle of a media interaction on Saturday night while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college for a checkup.
The brothers, both jailed in Prayagraj, were in handcuffs when they were killed in full view of camera crews around 10 pm.
