Mumbai, Jan 05, 2022: All the 66 Covid positive passengers on the Cordelia cruise ship have been evacuated and taken for quarantine in Mumbai hotels. They were offered to be taken to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Covid facility in Byculla but all of them opted for hotel quarantine.

The 66 Covid positive passengers of the Cordelia cruise ship are now at different hotels in Mumbai, staying at their own expense.

The 66 passengers onboard a Cordelia ship on Monday had tested positive for Covid during a Mumbai-Goa cruise.

The passengers who had tested negative for Covid in Goa are currently onboard the ship. Their reports are awaited. The BMC could complete the Covid RTPCR testing only by 3 am. The reports are expected by noon.

The people testing negative will be sent for home quarantine. People who are from outside Mumbai will be allowed to travel to their hometowns.

However, those who test positive will have to undergo quarantine in Mumbai.

The large-scale infection on the ship had sparked fears of a Covid hotspot. A passenger onboard the cruise ship had said that Covid positive patients were roaming freely in the lobby of the cruise. This has sparked further panic.

Cordelia Cruises on Tuesday, however, said that it had complied with all regulations stipulated by the Directorate General of Shipping, India, and followed all Covid protocols. The crew member who had first tested Covid positive was isolated immediately at the onset of his symptoms, the company’s CEO said. He, however, alleged a lack of empathy from the authorities as no one was allowed to disembark the ship in Goa.
