The actor’s post isn’t surprising, as a proposal to rename India as Bharat may be brought by the Narendra Modi-led government soon during the upcoming special session of Parliament.

As the buzz around renaming India gains momentum, superstar Amitabh Bachchan posted ’Bharat Mata ji jai’ with Indian flag emoji on X (formerly known as Twitter).

CALLS FOR RENAMING INDIA IN PARLIAMENT’S SPECIAL SESSION

The call for renaming India as Bharat through a Constitutional amendment has gained momentum, with sources indicating that the government may introduce a resolution to effect the change.

On August 15, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed similar sentiments during his speech from the Red Fort’s ramparts, urging citizens to make five pledges, including breaking free from every trace of slavery. This gesture was widely interpreted as a symbolic embrace of the nation’s indigenous identity.

Meanwhile, an official dinner invitation for G20 delegates from Rashtrapati Bhavan emerged on Tuesday, bearing the title ’President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ’President of India’.
