Keran, Oct 8: Fifteen days after the infiltration bid at Shala Batu village, the gunbattle between the Army and alleged Pakistani infiltrators in Keran may well be in its last leg. The Army is likely to declare the operations over later on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The Army sources say that the bodies of 15 terrorists killed may have either been dragged across the LoC, dropped in crevasses or buried in the thick jungles. The Army had earlier released aerial pictures of the terrorists killed at the LoC. It has also made a massive recovery of arms and ammunition from the infiltrators.
Brigadier Gerneral Staff Colonel Sanjay Mitra said, "The Army has recovered a large haul of arms and ammunition from Keran sector. The recovery made by the Army made the designs of terrorists amply clear." The worst hit in the crossfire between the Army and terrorists are the villagers of Jamgund, which neighbours Shala Bato, who are fleeing from the area.
The Army said the area is cordoned off and will launch a final push as soon as the terrorists make a mistake. It’s now a waiting game and a matter of time before someone blinks.
