New Delhi, May 09, 2017: No, Arvind Kejriwal is not resigning, asserted the Aam Aadmi’s Party this morning, as the party closed ranks around the Delhi Chief Minister, who has been accused of corruption by sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra. Mr Mishra said this morning that he is off to file complaints with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against his former boss.
"Truth will prevail. It will start tomorrow with the special session of Delhi assembly," Mr Kejriwal tweeted on Monday, ending a two-day silence as Mr Mishra’s allegations have swirled. Mr Kejriwal’s aides too have promised a big revelation at 2 pm today when the Delhi assembly sits for a special one-day session called to pass a Goods and Services Tax-related bill. Party sources said the expose will centre around tampering of Electronic Voting Machines or EVMs.
Ankit Lal, who is heads AAP’s IT and Innovation cell, had last night tweeted, "No. @ArvindKejriwal is not resigning. But it’s something bigger than this...Watch out...today, 2pm, Delhi assembly!"
Last night he had tweeted, "Keep yourself free tomorrow 2pm onwards. Tune in to Delhi assembly live telecast on Website and FB. It’ll be interesting to say the least."
Kapil Mishra has said he will visit the CBI office at 11 this morning. Ahead of that he sought Arvind Kejriwal’s "blessings," accusing him of sacking him as minister because he outed corruption.
"Arvind Kejriwal, your heart knows what deal I’m talking about with Satyendar Jain...If I hadn’t written a letter to the Anti Corruption Bureau, you wouldn’t have sacked me," Mr Mishra said. He also alleged that the Delhi chief minister has "created a web of lies" and will "try to prove your innocence" in the Delhi assembly.
"You will be the judge, jury and executioner and all AAP members will clap for you," the former Delhi minister said.
Kapil Mishra has alleged that he saw Mr Kejriwal take Rs. 2 crore from another minister, Satyendar Jain, at his home last Friday and that "Mr Jain has benefited close relatives of Mr Kejriwal in illegal land deals"
Mr Mishra was suspended from AAP yesterday soon after he dared the party to throw him out.
AAP says Mr Mishra is making "wild and baseless allegations" because he was sacked as minister for non-performance. Satyendar Jain has denied Mr Mishra’s allegations and said he was not even present at the Chief Minister’s residence on the day Mr Mishra alleges he handed over the cash.
AAP has also lashed out at Mr Mishra for naming Mr Kejriwal’s brother-in-law, who died on Monday. "Have some humanity. Not even two hours after the cremation, allegations are being made against the person," said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
