New Delhi, February 8, 2020: Arvind Kejriwal will return as Delhi chief minister for a third term with the Aam Aadmi Party all set to storm back to power with over two-thirds majority, most exit polls have predicted. The BJP, which ran a polarising campaign to counter the AAP charge, will be reduced to an also-ran in this election while the Congress may be staring at yet another wipeout, the pollsters say.
The Polstrat-NewsX has predicted 53-73 seats for AAP, 11-17 for the BJP and 0-2 seats for the Congress. Other exit poll surveys are likely to be out any minute now with polling ending for the Delhi elections. The Jan Ki Baat-Republic TV exit poll has predicted 48-61 seats for AAP, 9-21 for the BJP and 0-1 for the Congress. The Ipsos-Times Now exit poll has predicted 47 seats for Aam Aadmi Party and 23 for the BJP.
According to the C-Voter ABP News exit poll, the AAP will win 49 to 63 seats in Delhi, while the BJP is predicted to win 5 to 19 seats. The city has recorded a voting percentage of 55%, significantly less than the 67% recorded in the 2015 elections. The majority mark in 70-seat Delhi assembly is 36.
