New Delhi, July 22: Nobel laureate Amartya Sen has come out strongly against Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP poll panel chief Narendra Modi saying he would not like to see Modi as the Prime Minister of India.
Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN Deputy Editor Sagarika Ghose, Sen said, "As an Indian citizen I don’t want Modi as my PM, he has not done enough to make minorities feel safe."
He also criticised Modi’s model of governance and said he does not approve of his model. "Physical infrastructure in Gujarat may be good but Modi has not done enough for minorities or for the majority," he said.
The remarks came at a time when Modi can be seen as a possible leader who can be projected by his party as the prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party had recently announced that Modi-led team will manage the campaign for 2014 Lok Sabha polls. He along with party President Rajnath Singh will also head the party’s central election campaign committee.
