The active caseload in India has declined to 4,31,315, which is the lowest it has been in 109 days.

The country’s Covid recovery rate, meanwhile, has risen to 97.28 per cent. A total of 49,007 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s cumulative Covid recoveries to 3,00,63,720.

However, the nation also registered 2,020 new Covid deaths in the same period of 24 hours. The total Covid toll now stands at 4,10,784.

The daily toll registered on Tuesday is much higher than what was reported on Monday, i.e., 724 Covid deaths. This is because Madhya Pradesh added 1,478 deaths as backlog to its Covid-19 toll on Tuesday.

The daily positivity rate in India stands at 1.81 per cent. It has remained less than three per cent for 22 consecutive days. The weekly positivity rate, on the other hand, is currently at 2.28 per cent.

As far as the country’s vaccination drive is concerned, a 38.14 crore Covid vaccine doses have been administered in India so far. Of these, more than 40 lakh doses were given in the last 24 hours.

On the basis of data from Maharashtra, experts have warned that a third wave of Covid-19 could be round the corner.

In the first 11 days of July, Maharashtra reported 88,130 Covid-19 cases. Experts have said this rise in coronavirus cases could be the precursor to another wave since Maharashtra showed similar trends in the previous two waves.
