BJP blames ’jihadi’ forces for violence in Uttara Kannada

Bengaluru , Dec 13, 2017 : A delegation of state BJP leaders on Wednesday met Governor Vajubhai Vala in Bengaluru seeking that he direct the state government to order National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the deaths of Paresh Mestha and other Hindu/RSS activists in the state.

 

The BJP has blamed "jihadi" forces behind the "killings" and for perpetrating the violence in Sirsi and Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district.

A delegation of the leaders led by K S Eshwarappa, R Ashoka and Shobha Karandlaje met Vala in the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum stating that more than 20 Hindu/RSS activists have been killed during the past four years. The latest being that of Paresh Mestha, who was found dead in Honnavar.

The memorandum states that Honnavar was tense following vandalisation of a temple on December 7.

However, no protection was given and the entire police force was deputed to a programme attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

It states that Mestha’s body was dumped into a pond when ban order under Section 144 of CrPC was clamped in the town. "The crime could not have been committed without the help of the police," the memorandum states.

Shobha said the police have been trying to cover-up the crime and hide the fact that Mestha had been tortured before being killed. "We have requested the Governor to initiate action against the police who are involved in the cover-up," she said.
"The brutal killing of Meshta is the latest among the series of cold-blooded murders that has been taking place in coastal Karnataka.

In all the killings, the involvement of Popular Front of India and Socialist Democratic Party of India is clearly visible," the memorandum states.

Ashoka said the Congress government is deliberately maintaining a silence over the killings, which is in accordance with its "policy of minority appeasement and contempt to Hindu activists."

The leaders also staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue between Vidhana Soudha and the Vikasa Soudha in support of their demand.
