BJP considering change of Karnataka CM?

Mangalore Today/ CNN-IBN

Bangalore, June 26:
Apparently yielding to the demand by former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and his supporters and also keeping in mind the fast-approaching Assembly polls, the BJP high command is said to have decided to change the "leadership in Karnataka". It is sending central observers to Bangalore to elicit views of MLAs and senior leaders.

Gowda-yeddy

According to sources, BJP in-charge of Karnataka affairs Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP national organising secretary Satish will arrive here on June 28 to set the stage for leadership change. They will consult all stake-holders in the state BJP — Yeddyurappa, CM DV Sadananda Gowda, state BJP president KS Eshwarappa and other senior ministers.

"Unlike in the past when Gowda was "elected", this time the party high command wants to do it through consensus. It is with this mandate that Pradhan and Satish are coming to Bangalore," sources said.

After eliciting leaders’ views, the two would submit a report to party national president Nitin Gadkari who, in turn, would place it before the party’s central core committee, sources added.

The party leaders may also direct the CM to convene the BJP Legislature Party meeting under the supervision of Pradhan and Satish.

Sources in the Yeddyurappa camp said the high command had realised the necessity of a change in leadership, and Gadkari had assured ministers of the Yeddyurappa camp during his son’s wedding at Nagpur on Sunday that the leadership issue will be resolved in a week’s time after the duo’s visit. Following this, Yeddyurappa met ministers backing him — Basavaraj Bommai, CM Udasi and Renukacharya — at the Jindal nature cure centre on Monday.
