BJP’s Amit Shah promises to make UP top investment destination

Uttar Pradesh, Nov 08,  2016: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah said on Tuesday once his party comes to power in Uttar Pradesh, it would make the state a hive of industrial activity and attract investors from the world to invest here.

 

Addressing the Parivartan Yatra rally in Sonbhadra on Tuesday, he said during the 15 years of rule by the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) the state remained backward.

Continuing to take pot shots at the two regional players, he said though huge scams took place during the BSP regime, the SP did not get them probed thoroughly on coming to power.

There would be no place for corrupt and criminal elements in UP once the BJP came to power in the state, Shah warned. Within one month of the party taking the reins in UP, encroachment would be removed from the land of the poor, he promised.

On the triple talaq issue, he accused the SP and the BSP of being tongue-tied on the matter and said he would tell his party workers to ask the SP and BSP activists what their stand on the issue was. All three parties should file affidavits in court, making their stand clear on the matter, he suggested.

Acknowledging that Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister due to the massive support received from people of UP where the BJP won 71 out of 80 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, he claimed that the PM gave an additional Rs 1 lakh crore to the state every year since the BJP came to power at the centre in 2014.

He also promised that his party was committed to bettering the lot of the youth in UP and said that due to the lack of employment opportunities many of them are forced migrate to Delhi and Mumbai.

“We have come to change the ground realities in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Making a pro-agriculture pitch, he said farmers of UP continued to live in misery despite the state having an abundance of fertile land.

Referring to the situation on the border, he said the UPA government never countered firing by Pakistan but the Modi government always gave a befitting reply.

He also brought up the ‘khoon ki dalali’ comment made by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi after the Indian Army’s surgical strike on terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September.

Union ministers Manoj Sinha, Anupriya Patel, Santosh Gangwar and Mahendranath Pandey were also present during the rally.

After the rally, Shah launched the party’s third Parivartan Yatra in the state. The previous two were flagged off from Saharanpur on November 5 and Jhansi on November 6. The fourth yatra will begin from Ballia in eastern Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

Aiming to win next year’s assembly poll in UP, the BJP is taking out these ‘parivartan yatras’ from the four corners of the state that will culminate in Lucknow on December 24. “Poorna Bahumat, Sampoorna Vikas; Bhajpa Par Hai Vishwas (Clear majority, Comprehensive Development; We have faith on BJP)” is the slogan for these yatras.

These yatras will criss-cross all the 403 assembly constituencies in next 50 days before culminating at Lucknow on December 24 where PM Modi is likely to address a mega rally.

The yatras are aimed at helping the BJP connect with the rural and backward constituencies ahead of state polls where the saffron party is facing a strong fight from the SP, BSP and Congress.
