His final rites were performed at Balasai International School in Munagalapadu village on the outskirts of Kurnool on Wednesday, reported Times Now.

Balasai who was born as Balaraju on January 1960 became a monk at the age of 18 and established his ashram. He set up two ashrams, one at Kurnool and another at Hyderabad. The spiritual guru has a notable number of followers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana as well as abroad.

Balasia is reportedly popular for bringing out a shiva lingam from his mouth on the day of Shivarathri every year, which is dismissed by rationalists as a gimmick.

He was also famous for producing jewellery items such as necklaces, bracelets, and rings out of thin air, according to a New Indian Express report. It was also stated that before assuming Balasai Baba avatar, he used to sell cinema tickets in black to support his family.

According to a report by The News Minute, Balasai and his aides have numerous cases against them including land encroachment and bounced cheques, both in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He had also claimed that he was superior to Lord Venkateshwara, earning the wrath of many Hindu groups, the report stated.
