Bangalore, May 2: A 60-year-old man in Bangalore has died after he was allegedly assaulted by two men who were eve-teasing his niece.
The teenager was reportedly harassed by two men at a shop near her home. Her uncle,Alagaiah, tried to intervene and they allegedly pushed him. He collapsed and died on his way to hospital. He had undergone heart surgery in 2008.
"I was going to a shop, they were teasing me. I told my mother... and they began fighting with her. Alagaiah, my uncle...came to ask why you are fighting? They pushed him," said the girl who was allegedly being teased.
The two men who allegedly pushed Alagaiah have been arrested. Krishna Bhat, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bangalore East, said, "We have taken those two persons into our custody - they have been arrested and sent to judicial custody, of course we have patrolling in the area. I have asked the inspector to place some picket points also in certain places where people gather and do this eve teasing business."
60-year-old Alagaiah was an employee of the Bharat Earth-Movers Limited, a defence-run public sector unit, based in Bangalore.
