Kolkata, Sep 26, 2019: A senior police officer has become the first to be arrested in the 2016 Narada sting that showed SMH MirzaTrinamool Congress leaders in West Bengal allegedly taking cash for favours. SMH Mirza was arrested and produced in court by the CBI on Wednesday, NDTV reported.
Mr Mirza was the Superintendent of Police of Burdwan district in West Bengal when the sting operation was conducted by Mathew Samuels of the a website called Narada News.
He was allegedly seen on camera accepting cash from a reporter, pretending to be a businessman, on behalf of politicians.
